The Assistant Controller will support the Controller in overseeing accounting operations, payroll and financial reporting for the company. Manage core accounting functions and implement & enforce financial policies. Play a critical role in maintaining financial integrity, enhancing process efficiency, supporting audits, managing tax filings and contributing to strategic planning through financial analysis. Demonstrate strong leadership, technical proficiency, and the ability to work cross-functionally to drive continuous improvement and automation. Champion continuous improvement of accounting systems and reporting accuracy.

Responsibilities :
- Financial Reporting & Month End Close : Oversee and assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes and reporting. Manage the reconciliation of complex accounts and prepare financial statements in compliance with GAAP. Accumulate and consolidate financial data for internal and external reporting.
- Accounting Operations : Oversee multiple accounting functions and operations that include, but are not limited to; leasing, debt, rent, deferred revenue, capitalized software, payroll entries, fixed assets, alternative use cases and other general ledger accounts. Support the Controller in directing accounting operations and ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Internal Controls & Compliance : Establish, monitor, and enforce internal financial controls. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Research and preparation of state and local tax filings. Assist external tax firm with tax matters and filings. Ensure timely filing of tax returns, extensions and payments.
- Technical Accounting & Research : Research and assist VP of Accounting in the implementation of new GAAP requirements applicable to private companies. Partner with leadership and auditors on technical accounting matters to ensure policies are applied consistently and appropriately across the organization.
- Systems & Process Improvement : Assess current accounting systems and operations; recommend and implement improvements. Lead process automation initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce risk. Evaluate the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting databases.
- Strategic & Analytical Support : Provide actionable financial insights to support executive decision-making. Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and business metrics. Conduct and lead comprehensive issue resolution and in-depth financial investigations across multiple operational areas. Responsibilities include identifying discrepancies, analyzing complex financial data, collaborating with internal departments and external partners, and implementing corrective actions to ensure accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration : Participate in cross-departmental projects and special initiatives. Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Collaborate with internal teams and external auditors on the annual financial audit and technical accounting matters.
- Payroll Oversight & Governance : Oversee payroll operations to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant processing of all employee compensation. Partner with HR and external providers to validate payroll data inputs, deductions, and tax withholdings. Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, including audits for payroll-related tax filings. Ensure accurate general ledger integration and reconciliation of payroll-related accounts. Manage the end-to-end process of commission calculations and payouts, ensuring compliance with internal policies. Collaborate with sales, finance, legal and HR teams to address discrepancies, implement process improvements, implement automation, internal controls and support strategic compensation initiatives.
- Team Leadership & Development : Provide leadership through mentoring, training, and development to support talent growth and retention within the accounting and finance teams.
- Enterprise Spend : Manage & maintain the Enterprises spend activities in partnership with the supply chain team.
- Budgeting & Forecasting : Assist in preparing annual budgets and financial forecasts. Analyze and report budget-to-actual variances to management.
- Other Duties : Perform additional tasks, duties, and responsibilities as needed or assigned by leadership to support departmental and organizational objectives
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field requiredMinimum of five years of experience in accounting and finance requiredAccounting experience outside of public accounting preferredMinimum of two years of leadership experience in an accounting role requiredCertified Public Accountant (CPA) preferredBig 4 experience preferredStrong understanding of GAAP, tax compliance, payroll, and financial reporting requiredProficiency in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills requiredExperience with ERP systems and process automation preferredFamiliarity with tax laws, payroll processes, and audit procedures requiredStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail requiredProven ability to prepare and maintain accurate financial statements requiredProficient in accounting software systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills requiredExcellent written and verbal communication skills requiredHigh attention to detail and ability to conduct high-quality reviews requiredAbility to perform under pressure and exercise sound judgment and integrity requiredProven ability to manage multiple complex projects in a fast-paced environment requiredDemonstrated leadership, organization, and change management capabilities requiredBenefits Include :
