MSN or BSN + MA in Healthcare Administration required
Ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of nursing experience with 2 or more years of supervisory experience in an acute care facility
Description :
The Nurse Manager is responsible for managing a team of Registered Nurses and support staff within a specialty patient care unit.
This position oversees daily operations and assumes 24-hour responsibility for the unit.
The Nurse Manager will supervise and direct the work of others.
Key responsibilities include assigning, reviewing, and evaluating work performance of nursing and support staff.
The Nurse Manager prepares and signs work performance evaluations and handles disciplinary actions.
S / he prepares schedules and approves time off for staff.
S / he oversees the planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
Assignments are made based on knowledge, skills, and competency levels while considering patient needs.
The position develops and implements departmental policies and procedures.
Safety initiatives and infection control standards are monitored for compliance with regulations and facility policies.
The Nurse Manager develops monthly staffing schedules and ensures adequate daily staffing levels.
Budgetary management is a key responsibility including assessing budget requirements and monitoring resource utilization.
The Nurse Manager conducts clinical rounds to monitor patient care quality and engages in discussions with healthcare professionals and families.
Documentation of unusual occurrences is investigated, and risk management issues are reported.
Implementation of patient satisfaction strategies and employee engagement initiatives is undertaken.
The Nurse Manager oversees the instruction of staff in technical nursing skills.
Routine staff meetings are conducted to ensure effective communication.
This position ensures preservation of patient rights and compliance with privacy laws and standards.
Resolution of patient complaints and grievances follows mandated timeframes and procedures.
Necessary nursing skills for staff are analyzed and collaborated on with education services.
The Nurse Manager oversees staff orientation programs and ensures compliance with education requirements.
Performance improvement projects and initiatives are developed and monitored based on nursing observations.
Quality documentation, reports, and correspondence are prepared as needed.
Professional nursing duties are performed as necessary to support the unit.
Vacation and temporary relief responsibilities may be required.
