Day (United States of America)\n\nRegistered Nurse - ROC Medical Oncology\n\nThe Registered Nurse is responsible and accountable for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating as per the nursing process. The Registered Nurse is expected to direct, delegate, and coordinate all nursing care provided by the LPN, CNA, Patient Care Companion, and Unit Clerk consistent with their roles, responsibilities, and skill level. Assignments are performed appropriately to age and development level of the patient population being served.\n

• RN – State of Florida\n
• Degree from an accredited school of nursing, bachelor degree preferred.\n
• Completion of general and nursing orientation.\n
• Completion of unit orientation and unit-specific competency checklist.\n
• Professionalism in interpersonal communication skills with patients, families, and colleagues\n
• Certifications as required by the specific unit / area (Refer to required certification addendum).\n
• Completion of annual competency based learning modules [CBL's]\n
• Excellent communication skills are needed in dealing with physicians, patients, family, and other disciplines\n
• Assesses the patient on admission and assesses and monitors on an ongoing basis.\n
• Assesses patient / family learning needs.\n
• Recognizes and responds to changes in the patient's condition.\n
• Documents assessment data on admission and on an ongoing basis.\n
• Plans and coordinates care based on assessment of the patient's status and ongoing identified needs.\n
• Involves family / significant others in the plan of care as desired by the patient.\n
• On admission, initiates individualized teaching plan to ensure positive outcomes and timely discharge.\n
• Implements supportive and rehabilitative nursing care according to identified patient needs.\n
• Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to achieve desired patient outcomes.\n
• Initiates and verifies physician orders.\n
• Utilizes nursing judgment in the provision of care.\n
• Evaluates patients / families response to interventions and progress toward desired outcomes.\n
• Organizes patient care based on patient needs and available resources.\n
• Serves as the patient advocate by providing compassionate nursing care, which is individualized to meet the special needs of each patient.\n
• Identifies priorities for care of assigned patients.\n
• Coordinates patient care activities with services provided by ancillary departments to optimize patient outcomes.\n
• Demonstrates professional development, accountability, and leadership in the performance of their professional nursing practice. Adheres to our Cornerstone standards and hospital mission and values at all times.\n
• Reports to work when scheduled (Refer to Attendance policy).\n
• Maintains a professional appearance that demonstrates a positive image (Refer to Professional Appearance Expectations policy).\n
• Maintains patient confidentiality and acts in an ethical manner at all times.\n
• Follows legal and ethical guidelines in providing nursing care.\n
• Maintains competencies and continues development of professional / clinical knowledge base through continuing education.\n
• Assists with staff orientation and professional development.\n
• Contributes to a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and co-workers.\n
• Supports research and participates in quality improvement initiatives.\n
• Administers medications according to established policies.\n
