The Nurse LPN / RN- Crisis Center provides direct and indirect patient care in the local Behavioral Health Crisis Center and / or Youth Behavioral Health Urgent Care in a psychiatric capacity. Maintains standards of Professional Nursing Practice. Participates as an interdisciplinary team member responsible for overall coordination of care and services delivered to individuals experiencing behavioral crisis. Works collaboratively with members of the health care team to provide patient / family education. Demonstrates competency to provide age-appropriate care to adults 18 and older including geriatrics. This job is classified as Category I and may involve tasks with exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues.
This is a PRN / part-time as needed position, preference given to candidates with weekday availability : days, evenings, and overnights
Responsibilities Include :
Performs nursing care such as intake nursing assessments, health assessments, pain assessments, withdrawal assessment tools, vital signs, applying dressings, and general daily care of individuals who present at the Behavioral Health Crisis Center and / or Youth Behavioral Health Urgent CareReports and records nursing care in electronic health record in a accurate and timely mannerFollows Medication Policy and performs all duties of medication administration including medication pass, injections, and observing self-administration of medicationManages medications including completing the MAR, updating the MAR and counting controlled substancesProvides patient education regarding physical health and medications, sample medications and medication disposalCoordinates care with staff, residents, family, physicians, psychiatrists, hospitals, pharmacies, as well as outside agenciesProvides virtual nursing support to other BHCC sites, as neededCollaborates with Level One Medication Aids (L1MA), as neededReports and records observable changes in individual’s behavior, attitude and physical conditionAssists staff with various diagnostic and treatment proceduresAdheres to sterile and clean proceduresProvides education on procedures and protocols to new employees, when needed.Participates in team and leadership meetings as assignedRequires effective verbal, written and nonverbal communication skillsPossesses cognitive, organizational and emotional abilities and maturity to deal effectively with multiple stressors, deadlines and difficult situationsProvides direct patient care to adultsRequires working with patients who could be verbally or physically agitatedParticipates in mandatory overtime (if / when needed)Other duties as assigned
