Teche Health, A Federally Qualified Health Center, per Section 330 of the Public Health Service Act, is currently seeking qualified applicants for the Pharmacy Technician I or II position in Franklin and Morgan City, Louisiana.

JOB SUMMARY :

Employees at this level perform basic pharmaceutical duties. They work under direct supervision of Registered Pharmacists and may be managed by higher level Pharmacy Technicians.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Enter prescriptioninformation into thePharmacy andHealthCenter Computer Systems.
  • Prepare prepackaging and labeling of unit and multiple dose packages pursuant to appropriate procedures under thedirectsupervision of the Pharmacist.
  • Assist the Pharmacistinpreparing prescriptionsunder his / her direct supervision, except thefinal dispensing whichistobe performed bythe pharmacist.
  • Assist in thepreparationof productsinthe Pharmacy where such products arenotadministered to the patient and when done pursuant to appropriate procedures under direct supervision of the Pharmacist, who conductsin process, and finalchecks.
  • Maintaincontrolinventory records, and assist the Pharmacistwithordering,determining optimumpurchase quantities, receiving inventory,andaccomplishing returnsof excessand outdated inventory.
  • Assistinaccomplishing third party billing and maintenanceofrecords.
  • Issuesupplies and otherproducts to physiciansand / or other departmentspursuanttoappropriate procedures.
  • Perform otherappropriateduties as assigned by the Pharmacist.

QUALIFICATIONS :

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE :

  • High School Graduate or GED equivalent-as evidenced by credential
  • Required State hours of training-on-the-job (Technician Permit)
  • State and / or National Certification / License
  • 0 10 years experience as pharmacy technician
  • Knowledge, understanding, and sensitivity to multicultural groups, encompassing their socio-economic backgrounds
  • Licensure or ability to obtain licensure when background credentials warrant
  • Must complete ACPE or CPE continuing education each year as a prerequisite for annual renewal of license.
  • Communication Ability :

  • Excellent communication skills at level necessary for understanding and relaying information to patients / co-workers
  • Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, patients, family members, visitors, government agencies / personnel and the general public.
  • Math Ability :

  • Basic math skills
  • REASONING ABILITY :

  • Skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision-making to achieve organizational objectives
  • Skill in exercising judgment and discretion in applying and interpreting clinic policies and procedures.
  • Computer Skills :

  • Education / training or work experience in computer basics and data entries
  • Skill in utilizing computers, pharmacy software
  • Ability to utilize the ECW systems.
  • Professional Skills :

  • Knowledge of the purposes, organization and policies of the communitys health systems sufficient to interact with other health care providers, patients and the public
  • Skill in organizing work, making assignments, and achieving goals and objectives knowledge of the policies and procedures of the clinic
  • Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a high-stress and fast-moving environment
  • Ability to be culturally sensitive and effective when working with ethnically diverse populations
  • Ability to maintain quality control standards
  • Ability to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel.
  • CERTIFICATES, LICENSE, REGISTRATIONS :

    Must be Louisiana Board ofPharmacy licensed topracticeand mustcomplete a minimum of one ACPE unit approvedACPEorCPE,or ten hours of continuingeducationeach year as a prerequisite for annualrenewalof license.

  • Eligibility Requirements :

  • All employees must meet eligibility standards in order to be considered for the position applying for. Internal applicants must be with be with the organization for at least one year, with no disciplinary actions on file. If you have not been with the organization for a year, approval from your direct supervisor will be needed.
  • Due to CMS Mandate all applicants must be fully vaccinated prior to onboarding with Teche Health with the exception of an approved Medical or Religious Exemption.
