Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role located in San Diego, CA for a MEP Coordinator. The MEP Coordinator will be responsible for providing guidance and field support for the installation and commissioning of mechanical, plumbing, electrical, fire protection and life safety building systems. The MEP Coordinator shall engage early in the design process to provide design guidance and shall remain involved thru-out installation and commissioning to ensure the building systems are functioning efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Responsibility for quality control of installation of MEFP systems.
• Provide Design guidance to the preconstruction team and act as a liaison to Design Build partners to ensure we are delivering systems in conformance with design parameters.
• Attend weekly coordination meetings with Owners, Architects and Subcontractors. Provides outline of work to be performed and manages the delivery process of the systems.
• Works hand in hand with the Project Superintendent to provide additional insight and guidance to the building parameters.
• Review shop drawings for power, connection sizing, voltage, supplemental utility connections, riser diagrams, serviceability, etc.
• Assist project managers in estimating / analyzing MEP change requests for accuracy of scope.
• Discusses manpower needs with MEP trades relative to specific task to ensure the MEP team is targeting the project schedule milestones effectively.
• Assess ductwork routing and coordination with trades.
• Reviews cascading plans to ensure pressurization and design parameters are working hand in hand.
• Review insulation and labeling installations for accuracy.
• Provide oversight and guidance to the commissioning process to ensure a smooth transition and turnover.
• Facilitate and oversee Owner training of mechanical systems to ensure Subcontractor provided training sessions are encompassing and provide value to the end user.
• Perform inspection of field installation(s) to confirm they are in conformance with the design intent.
• Review project schedules and provide input relative to the MEFP sequences.
• Review ADA compliance with installation of fixtures.

Candidate shall possess strong construction knowledge and plan reading abilities. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, has good written / oral communication skills, and has a strong work ethic. Our MEP Coordinators are technical advisers and managers that provide valuable insight to the team for the smooth delivery of complex systems. The position requires skill, knowledge and the ability to communicate effectively with a multitude of project stakeholders.
