Overview : The Value Stream Lead (VSL) for the Lamination Department is responsible for supervising and actively participating in the daily operations of lamination production. This role combines leadership, quality control, equipment troubleshooting, and team coordination to ensure the consistent output of high-quality laminated mining and industrial fabrics. The VSL will serve as the first point of contact for team members and will support operational efficiency through coaching, technical expertise, and continuous improvement efforts.
Production & Quality Oversight
- Oversee all lamination processes, ensuring quality standards are met throughout production runs.
- Monitor adhesive rates, temperatures, pressure levels, cutter specs, and equipment settings to maintain product consistency.
- Conduct inspections of finished goods and identify quality deficiencies.
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving mechanical issues on lamination equipment.
- Coordinate printer programming and labeling for printed materials.
Leadership & Team Support
Lead, guide, and support lamination team members in day-to-day operations.Serve as the first point of contact for questions or issues arising during shifts.Train new team members and ensure standard work procedures are followed.Allocate personnel effectively based on production needs and skill levels.Inventory & Material Coordination
Monitor inventory of raw materials, supplies, and finished goods within the lamination value stream.Ensure proper staging and warehousing of materials for production use and downstream departments.Assist with and coordinate regular inventory counts.Maintenance & Reporting
Schedule and coordinate preventative maintenance of lamination equipment and auxiliary systems.Notify leadership of any recurring equipment issues or quality concerns related to materials.Generate production summaries and departmental reports as needed.Execute special projects or additional duties assigned by the Production Manager or Plant Manager.Qualifications & Skills :
High School diploma or equivalent preferred.Basic math aptitudePrior leadership experience preferably in a manufacturing environmentExperience using and implementing Lean Manufacturing practiceKnowledge of tow motor operationsAbility to read gauges, weight scales and tape measuresBasic mechanical natureAbility to work on various machinesKnowledge of safety rulesAbility to operate industrial sewing machines, heat sealers, grommeting machines and rewindersKnowledge of Sigma Six, CAPA, and Lean Manufacturing practices
