If appointed to a position, applicants from outside of Colorado will be required to relocate to Colorado prior to their start date, at their own expense.\n\nPlease note : This recruitment may be used to fill multiple vacancies\n\nThis position will receive a short-staffing temporary pay differential of (4%) from July 1st 2025 - June 30th 2026.\n\nAbout Grand Junction Regional Center\n\nGrand Junction Regional Center (GJRC) is a collection of group homes that serves adult individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) who need additional support to stabilize and return to community residential settings. GJRC's focus is on improving outcomes for individuals with IDD as well as promoting community integration. GJRC has a total of 10 homes nestled throughout established neighborhoods of Grand Valley. These homes feature warm, comfortable living spaces and private, fenced backyards with recreation equipment.\n\nDescription Of Job\n\nThe Clinical Nurse Trainer plays a vital role in developing, implementing, and delivering medical and clinical education programs for staff at GJRC. This position ensures nursing staff and direct care professionals receive comprehensive, compliant, and high-quality training to support the delivery of therapeutic services for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities.\n\nAdditionally, as a Clinical Nurse Trainer, you can expect to : \n

  • Develop lesson plans, teaching materials, and clinical content that meet regulatory and professional nursing standards.\n
  • Provide engaging classroom and hands-on instruction in subjects such as nursing skills, medication administration, infection control, and body systems.\n
  • Design, update, and evaluate training curricula to ensure alignment with agency needs and current medical best practices.\n
  • Conduct competency checks and skills evaluations for new hires and current staff to ensure ongoing compliance and proficiency.\n
  • Facilitate required certifications and programs such as QMAP, First Aid, BLS, and New Employee Orientation (NEO).\n
  • Collaborate with nursing leadership and staff development teams to plan and deliver continuing education initiatives.\n
  • Maintain accurate training records, evaluations, and compliance documentation in accordance with regulatory and agency standards.\n
  • Provide mentorship, feedback, and support to nursing staff and co-instructors to enhance their professional growth and instructional effectiveness.\n
  • Travel between group homes and program sites to conduct clinical instruction, evaluations, and on-site support.\n
  • Stay current on nursing regulations, clinical procedures, and adult learning strategies to continuously improve training outcomes.\n
  • Maintain active licensure, certifications, and participation in staff development meetings and required education.\n
  • Support the mission of GJRC by ensuring that all nursing education upholds quality care, ethical standards, and compliance with state and federal regulations.\n\nThis position is 100% In-Person : You are required to work at your assigned work location during your scheduled work times. Hours depend on the agency / community events and work needs. Mon-Fri 8-5, occasionally requires some evenings and weekends. Please note : Work arrangements are subject to change at any time.\n\nEducation / Licensure / Certification / Experience\n\nMinimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights\n\nCurrent, valid licensure as a Registered Nurse from the Colorado Board of Nursing or any state participating in the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC). Three (3) years of professional experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position\n\nSubstitutions\n\nAppropriate education will substitute for up to two (2) years of the required experience on a year-for-year basis\n\nSpecial Qualifications\n\nState Board of Nursing (SBON) Registered Nurse license required for this position; valid, current, and unrestricted. (Experience cannot be substituted for the Bachelor's degree, as it is required for LPT training / LPT Site Director).\n\nConditions Of Employment\n
  • Full background check : CDHS employees (all direct contact with vulnerable persons) : CBI name check and fingerprint check, ICON Colorado court database, Medicare fraud database, Reference Checks, Professional License verification (licensure requirements), Drug Screen, PREA (Division of Youth Services), Trails check (direct contact with children), CAPS (direct contact with adults – Mental Health Institutes, Regional Centers, Veterans Community Living Centers) and reference check required\n
  • This position requires State of Colorado residency at the time of application (unless otherwise identified in the posting), and residency within the state throughout the duration of employment in this position.\n
  • Motor Vehicle Check, if the employee will drive a state-owned vehicle, either in an ongoing capacity while performing their normal day-to-day job duties OR on occasion for training / meetings / client visits / etc.\n
  • Must possess a valid, non-restricted Colorado Driver's License or a non-restricted U.S. Driver's License for positions within 30 miles of the CO state border\n
  • Out-of-State Driver's License holders must obtain a valid, non-restricted Colorado Driver's License within 30 days of employment start date.\n
  • Travel – Position must travel to remote work sites and must utilize a state vehicle, if available. If not, must utilize a personal vehicle and submit for mileage reimbursement. Position is required to use a state vehicle to transport residents.\n
  • TB test is required, requires Influenza and other vaccines as required by state and facility; must be 18 years or older.\n
  • Pre-employment Physical / Tests – Exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and / or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and / or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects\n
  • Nurses : New Compact Rule\n
  • Starting Jan. 2, 2024, if you have a multistate license and change your primary state of residence to another state within the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC), you must apply for a license in that state within 60 days.\n
  • If this latter step is not completed within the allotted time frame, your previous license may expire. This puts you at risk of practicing without a license. As an example, if you are a registered nurse with a multistate license from Arizona practicing in Colorado and you move to Colorado, you have 60 days to apply to Colorado's Board of Nursing for a new multistate license. These changes were part of the final rules passed by the Interstate Commission of Nurse Licensure Compact Administrators at its annual conference in August. The eNLC allows for mobility and creates a more robust workforce by allowing nurses to practice in Colorado with licenses from other compact states.
