The Animal Emergency & Referral Center of Minnesota (AERC-MN) is looking for a full-time Referrals Coordinator to add to our team.

Role Title : Referrals Coordinator

Department : Referrals

Shift : Monday - Friday (8am - 4pm)

The primary function of the Referrals Coordinator is to provide continuity and quality in service to referral clients and referring veterinarians through communication, client service and follow through. The position provides support to the specialty department and works closely with them to provide stellar client service to both patient owners and referring hospitals. The Referrals Coordinator also provides backup to the call center staff in answering phone calls, questions, and triaging when appropriate. Additionally, the Referrals Coordinator is expected to promote professional growth through education and learning opportunities. This position will report directly to the Referrals Support Team Manager.

  • You will answer phone calls, enter data into the electronic medical record platform, perform financial transactions, and reduce client anxiety by troubleshooting issues related to client service process, service failures, or other problems including identifying and resolving the problem through effective decision making and escalating issues when appropriate
  • You will function as a liaison between the client and the clinicians and technical teams, so it is vital to demonstrate patience, interpersonal communication skills, empathy, and compassion
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues

  • This is a non animal handling role. Although you will not physically be handling patients often, you will work closely alongside them while focusing efforts to providing the best client care and support possible to both clients and the referring community.
  • High school diploma or GED is required
  • Minimum of two years of client service experience or training beyond high school in a service-related industry
  • Proficiency in various software programs, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) along with strong typing and data entry skills.
