GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Network Analyst II (Technical Services) is responsible for the implementation of the maintenance and repair of all computer hardware, software and operating systems that support the Black Hawk College infrastructure; supports communication systems, network systems and network operating systems used by Black Hawk College.
This position must possess a valid driver's license. The job location is Quad Cities Campus and East Campus with hybrid ability.
DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Analyzes and develops specifications for College software and systems in response to the needs of the user community.
- Manages and maintains the integrations of the College's Active Directory environment with other products ensuring proper dataflow and directory integrity.
- Responsible for overall user access, privileges, accountability, maintenance, and preventative maintenance to avoid unnecessary interruptions for the end-user.
- Serves as system administrator by scheduling and planning the installation and purchasing of new hardware and software applications to ensure timely completion and minimal disruption to end users.
- Develops and designs the setup, modifications and tuning of virtualized software in a complex multi-platform computing environment.
- Demonstrates competency with and knowledge of the College's desktop and administrative software systems, including integration areas, and demonstrates the ability to work in all areas / systems.
- Monitors, documents, and communicates effectively all environmental and physical data center issues at all sites.
- Serves as team lead for the College's virtualization resources in developing standard configurations and maintaining monitoring systems to ensure a consistent high availability service level.
- Develops business continuity procedures; implements procedures, and tests for the safety of all supporting hardware and applications used by the College.
- Monitors daily activities of the infrastructure components in order to find security issues or systems issues and remediates them.
- Implements strategies, tools, and methods to assess the College's threat level in order to deter electronic attacks upon the College infrastructure; reports threat levels and deficiencies on a monthly basis to the Chief Information Officer (with critical threats reported as needed).
- Responsible for team assignments including team leadership as required.
- Serves as a District-wide technical coordinator for secure mobile and remote computing including but not limited to secure remote access, mobile phone provisioning, and data communications access.
- Responsible for the technical documentation to support hardware and software applications that support the infrastructure; assists with development of any additional manuals needed to support the mission.
- Responsible for performing, maintaining, and verifying the backups for assigned systems.
- Ability to responsibly utilize broad access to College database, network and computer files, including those of a confidential nature, in a manner consistent with the requirements of the position and only for job-related purposes.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with respect to College records and reports which are prepared, maintained, or utilized by the Board of Trustees or College Administrators in connection with labor relations and collective bargaining.
- Maintains satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record.
DESCRIPTION OF OTHER DUTIES
Utilizes hands on experience in the installation of server hardware including the ability to troubleshoot and repair network equipment.Develops the framework to install and upgrade databases and related business system application software and assistance in troubleshooting.Utilizes knowledge and experience with current College operating systems and hardware management.Evaluates and determines the need for new software and researches alternatives; develops and implements new software as necessary.Evaluates and recommends software tools by obtaining quotes on computer hardware and application software to the IT Systems Manager.Assists the Co-Chief Information Officer in security related activities including but not limited to investigations, breaches, and generally protecting the infrastructure.Travels as necessary to district locations to complete projects, installations, or repairs.Serves as the primary backup to the ITS Sr. Network Analyst I and Network Specialist.Perform other job-related duties as required.OVERALL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Bachelor's degree required. Major in computer-related field preferred. In lieu of a bachelor's degree, an Associate's degree and a minimum of two years experience as a systems administrator may be substituted.At least two years experience with Windows Active Directory, Cisco Networking, Firewall management, and Linux experience preferred.CompTIA Security+, Network+, Linux+, or any Operating System certifications from the following vendors : Microsoft and / or RedHat preferred.System analysis or design experience within integrated applications systems required.Demonstrated competency with Windows, Access, and a relational database language required.Demonstrated competency with Oracle, SQL Server, HTML, Visual Basic, and Web design tools desired.Team leadership experience preferred.Virtualization experience preferred.Valid driver's license required.Black Hawk College does not sponsor employment visas.
