Position Summary
C5T is seeking an Air Mobility Operations and AFFOR Staff Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join a multi-disciplinary action research team supporting the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) and Air Mobility Command (AMC). This role is part of a research team at AMC Headquarters supporting AMC transformation initiatives. The SME will ensure innovative solutions to complex research tasks are grounded in a current understanding of applicable DoD and USAF doctrine, concepts, and tactics. The successful candidate will collaborate daily with senior government civilian and military personnel, contractor teammates, and C5T colleagues. Location : Scott Air Force Base, IL (AMC HQ). Work will primarily take place in government workspaces, with some time in company offices and occasional telework as mission needs allow.
Key Responsibilities
Apply in-depth understanding of AMC operational and staff processes, as well as AFFOR staff functions, to diagnose and resolve complex organizational challenges.Collaborate with teammates to assess staff procedures, coordination mechanisms, and integration points with operational planning and decision-making.Partner with research team members and government stakeholders to design and conduct organizational improvement efforts.Stay current with relevant DoD, USAF, and AMC policies and procedures.Actively participate in research project design, planning, and execution.Collect and analyze qualitative and quantitative data to support findings and measure improvement impact.Translate research findings into actionable recommendations for leadership.Prepare and deliver high-quality briefings and reports for senior leaders.Document activities in accordance with applicable policies.Ensure compliance with classification and security requirements.Required Qualifications
10+ years of experience planning and performing airlift, air refueling, or global mobility support missions.2+ years of staff experience in HQ AMC A3, A4, or A5 / 8.Understanding of the Air Force Forces (AFFOR) staff role in DoD and USAF doctrine and operations.Ability to engage senior officers and civilian leaders in conceptual discussions on air mobility operations and staff processes.Strong understanding of AMC Headquarters structure and processes.Completion of Intermediate or Senior Developmental Education.Expert verbal and written communication skills.Ability to obtain a Secret (or higher) security clearance.Desired Qualifications
Understanding of current AFFOR staff processes and functions at AMC.Experience in structured process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).Benefits
