Position Title : Non-Paid Journalist Intern

Location : REMOTE ONLY

Duration : 3 months with the choice to extend

Position Overview

As a Non-Paid Journalist Intern at Tunnel Vision Network, you will gain hands-on experience. You will work in the field of journalism. You will work closely with our editorial team to research, write, and produce engaging content across various platforms. This internship is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to build their portfolio. It also provides valuable insights into the media industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and write articles on various topics, including current events, culture, and community issues.
  • Assist in fact-checking and verifying information for published content.
  • Conduct interviews with sources, experts, and community members to gather information and quotes.
  • Collaborate with the editorial team to brainstorm story ideas and contribute to editorial meetings.
  • Help manage social media accounts by creating and scheduling posts to engage our audience.
  • Participate in the editing process, providing feedback and revisions to enhance the quality of content.
  • Attend events and cover local news stories as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a degree in journalism, communications, or a related field.
  • Strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to adapt styles for different audiences.
  • Familiarity with AP style and basic journalistic principles.
  • Basic understanding of social media platforms and their role in journalism.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong research skills and attention to detail.
  • Previous writing experience (e.g., school newspaper, blog) is a plus but not required.
