The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer will perform examinations on selective portions of the anatomy as requested by the clinician. The Sonographer is expected to perform a variety of ultrasound procedures with the knowledge and ability for the purpose of obtaining diagnostic quality studies. Responsible for obtaining patient history and appropriate clinical information to aid in proper diagnostic correlation. The Sonographer maintains a high standard of medical ethics at all times and is self-motivated to increase level of understanding and knowledge of the field, and new procedures as they evolve. Must be able to work scheduled an “on-call” hours if necessary.
Education : Graduate of Committee of Allied Health Education and Accreditation Program or equivalent on-the
job training program as approved by the Medical Director of the Imaging Services Department.
Registered or registry eligible preferred. Registry obtained within 18 months of hire date preferred.
Experience : One year experience as a sonographer preferred. Competency in components of Imaging practice,
patient positioning and exposure factors as related to Ultrasonography. Must have an understanding of
pathology, including knowledge of disease, anomalies and abnormalities that influence performance of
procedures.
