Self-Checkout Attendant Job Description
Job Summary :
The Self-Checkout Attendant is responsible for assisting customers with the self-checkout process, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience. This role involves monitoring the self-checkout area, providing customer service, resolving technical issues, preventing theft, and maintaining a clean workspace.
Key Responsibilities :
- Greet customers and assist them with self-checkout machines.
- Monitor transactions to prevent scanning errors and fraud.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with self-checkout kiosks.
- Verify age-restricted purchases (e.g., alcohol, tobacco).
- Ensure customers scan and pay for all items properly.
- Provide guidance on payment methods and bagging items.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the self-checkout area.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or suspicious activities.
- Assist customers with price checks and item lookups.
- Uphold store policies and provide excellent customer service.
Qualifications :
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.Prior retail or customer service experience is a plus.Strong communication and problem-solving skills.Ability to stand for extended periods and perform light lifting.Comfortable handling cash, credit card transactions, and technology.Friendly, patient, and attentive to customer needs.Work Environment & Schedule :
Fast-paced retail setting.Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts may be required.Standing and walking for most of the shift.
