Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position in an acute care setting, requiring a current CA RN license and strong L&D experience.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Position is in a hospital Labor & Delivery unit with 12 L&D beds and 6 triage beds
  • Patient population includes high-risk pregnancies, multiple births, and C-sections
  • Patient ratios are 2 : 1 per ACOG guidelines
  • Work schedule is 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend required
  • Closed unit with no floating to other departments
  • Uses Cerner EMR; Cerner experience is required
  • Support team includes 24 / 7 charge RN, OB techs, respiratory therapists, and pharmacy
  • Responsibilities include circulating and recovering C-sections, monitoring high-risk and multiple birth deliveries, and providing immediate newborn care including skin-to-skin
  • Orientation includes two shifts on the unit and meetings with educators and documentation review nurses
  • Charting is comprehensive and not by exception; meticulous documentation is required
  • Hospital provides required scrub attire
  • Expect to work in a fast-paced, high-volume unit with over 300 deliveries per month
  • OB techs assist with C-sections and baby care duties
  • No nurse aides on unit; RNs must be strong and independent
  • Level 3 (almost level 4) NICU team attends high-risk deliveries

    • \n \n Requirements\n

  • Active CA RN license required at time of consideration
  • Minimum of 3 years recent Labor & Delivery experience
  • Required certifications : BLS (AHA only), ACLS (AHA only), NRP, and AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring
  • Must be comfortable with C-sections, high-risk deliveries, and rapid patient turnover
  • Experience with Cerner EMR is required
  • Must provide two professional references : one supervisor from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past 3 years
  • Copy of driver's license required for consideration
  • Candidates may not have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility in the past year
