Building Inspector
Starting Pay : $16.68 - $21.00 per hour (DOQ)
Under direction from the Community Improvements Manager, this position performs a variety of inspections of building and properties to ensure compliance with City of Amarillo Municipal Code, nuisance complaints, substandard structures, weeds and uncultivated growth, junk and debris, junk vehicles, building code requirements, no supervision of others.
Essential Responsibilities
Minimum Requirements
Requires a High School Diploma or its equivalent and a minimum of one year experience with high public contact. Bilingual in Spanish preferred. Must obtain the ICC Property Maintenance Code the ICC Code Enforcement Officer Certification, within twelve months of employment. Valid Texas Driver's License required or obtained within 30 days.

Work Environment
The employee works in a dynamic environment that requires being sensitive to change and responsive to changing goals, priorities, and needs. Schedule consists of 10-hour shifts, four on / three off per week. Optional overtime assignments are available throughout the year.
