Foreman – Final Operations (1st Shift)

Location : Canton, Ohio

Company : Canton Drop Forge

Schedule : Monday – Friday : 7 : 00 AM – 4 : 00 PM

Position Overview :

The Foreman – Final Inspection provides direct leadership within the inspection department of a unionized, industrial manufacturing environment. Acting under the direction of the Final Operations Superintendent, this role is responsible for supervising inspection personnel, supporting employee development, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring adherence to quality requirements. The foreman serves as a communication link between Final Operations, Production, Quality Control, Shipping, and other departments, ensuring smooth workflow and accountability.

Key Responsibilities :

Supervision of Employees : Direct, schedule, and oversee Final Inspection personnel on 1st shift, including training, coaching, and performance management.

Quality Compliance : Ensure all inspection processes meet customer specifications, industry standards, and internal quality requirements.

Standards & Certifications : Support compliance with Nadcap and AS9100 standards where applicable throughout finishing operations.

Daily Operations : Manage workflow, assign jobs, and address issues to maintain efficiency and accuracy, while escalating major decisions to leadership.

Safety Leadership : Promote and enforce all safety rules, maintaining a safe and compliant work environment for employees. Lead departmental safety trainings and toolbox talks.

Cross-Department Communication : Serve as the liaison between Final Inspection, Production, Quality Control, and Logistics to ensure smooth product flow and timely delivery.

Problem-Solving : Assist in root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and corrective actions related to inspection or quality concerns, keeping leadership informed.

Process Improvement : Monitor department performance and recommend improvements for efficiency and quality.

Reporting & Documentation : Maintain accurate records and prepare reports using Microsoft Office and required quality systems, providing updates to leadership.

Qualifications :

2+ years of experience in a supervision role within a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment.

Working knowledge of product final inspection processes required; hands-on experience in metal grinding, Brinell hardness testing, and / or NDT highly preferred.

Strong understanding of quality control standards and inspection processes.

Working knowledge of Nadcap and / or AS9100 preferred.

Proficiency within Microsoft Office Suites, including Excel required.

Ability to work effectively in a unionized, industrial environment.

Written and spoken fluency in Latin American Spanish and English preferred.
