Primary Talent Partners has a new contract opening for a QA Specialist II with our large power and utilities client in Mt. Holly, NC. This is a 12-month contract with a potential for extension.
Pay : $35.00 - $40.00 / hr ;W2 contract, no PTO, no Benefits. ACA-compliant supplemental package available for enrollment.
Description : Company\'s Turbine and Generator Services (TGS) provides engineering and technical support for the Regulated and Renewable Energy (RRE) fleet of turbines and generators. The vision is to optimize reliability and lifecycle cost of centerline assets by eliminating major events. TGS utilizes a comprehensive suite of resources—including personnel, organizational structures, technologies, and analytical methodologies—to identify, evaluate, and mitigate factors that could result in significant operational challenges.
The TGS QA Specialist role is tasked with promoting continuous improvement by applying quality engineering principles and utilizing analytics to develop data-driven solutions. This individual contributor position is responsible for providing input and guidance to TGFS management on matters related to organizational quality concerning centerline assets—including gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, and exciters—with particular emphasis on vendor quality. The quality analyst independently manages programs, procedures, and processes with minimal oversight. They handle complex problems, advise on compliance, monitor and report on quality, and develop solutions.
The QA Specialist will ensure adequate and consistent plans, processes, documentation, and standards are maintained and exercised to ensure all RRE sites and vendors maintain compliance with the program outline. The incumbent should demonstrate leadership, organizational expertise, and strategic vision to address fleet challenges. They must have technical skills for program analysis, as well as proficiency in financial or economic evaluation to optimize and adjust initiatives for improved outcomes.
The position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to lead the preparation of complex reports and presentations and influence the outcome of process negotiations. This level will frequently interface with all levels of management up to the GM levels.
Responsibilities :
- Maintain the TGS Quality Program for centerline assets to improve the availability and reliability of the RRE fleet of centerline assets and drive down the cost of quality for the fleet.
- Execute the vendor qualification and requalification process to assess technical and quality competency of vendors to perform centerline work (both shop work and on turbine deck).
- Perform quality audits at vendor shops as required based on past vendor performance.
- Influence business unit leaders on implementation of consistent standards across the business unit.
- Actively integrate industry best practices into fleet initiatives and programs.
- Maintain metrics and KPIs in support of fleet initiatives and business targets. Revise initiatives to respond to changing industry / fleet trends and priorities.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for significant failures on centerline assets in the RRE fleet, or contribute towards OEM RCA investigations.
- Maintain TGS Quality Checklist program and provide oversight and support for technical teams completing the checklists. Report out on metrics, analyze to identify degrading trends, and initiate corrective actions with vendors as required.
- Maintain Quality Reporting system for events and collaborate with technical teams to assess cause and corrective actions required by vendors to address issues. Report out monthly to TGS Leadership team on quality event count, Cost of Poor Quality, rework and near-miss trending.
- Lead monthly quality calls with key OEM contacts to develop data-driven action plans with technical teams.
- Establish constructive working relationships with vendors, OEMs, and other business units within the organization to ensure efficient coordination of work activities. Exhibit strong oral and written communication abilities. Maintain comprehensive and accurate records and documentation.
- Support the company\'s goals and represent the company positively and professionally.
- Assess quality data collection and reporting in PowerApps and PowerBi to improve user experience and enhance capabilities of the teams.
Basic / Required Qualifications :
Bachelor\'s degree and 5 years related experienceIn Lieu of Degree - HS Diploma / GED with 10 years related experience.Additional Preferred Qualifications :
Bachelor\'s in Engineering / ScienceStrong collaboration / interpersonal skills and written / verbal communication skillsFive or more years of prior centerline (steam turbine, gas turbine, generator) experience in the utility industry related to Operations & Maintenance.Understanding of the basic principles of project management.Experience using OSI PI Vision / Datalink and Microsoft Office software utilities.Quality Engineering, Assurance, and control experience.Process Improvement experience.Root Cause Analysis experienceAuditing experience.Knowledge of the repair, maintenance, and fabrication of common power plant equipment and components.Skills and Abilities :
