Are you a board-certified Gastroenterologist seeking a flexible locum tenens opportunity in South Carolina? Join a dynamic team near Columbia, SC, providing exceptional care to adult patients in a variety of settings. This role offers a balance of inpatient, outpatient, and procedural work with a supportive team environment.

Position Highlights

  • Location : Near Columbia, SC.
  • Dates of Coverage :

January 610, 2025

  • February 714, 2025
  • March 714, 2025
  • April 1118, 2025
  • May 29, May 59, and May 2330, 2025
  • Additional dates through October 2025.
  • Shift Schedule : Standard shifts (including on-call) with a mix of day and night hours.

    • Role Details

  • Case Load : Approximately 10 cases per day.
  • Team Support : Collaborate with five physicians, three advanced practice providers, and a dedicated OR team with CRNA support.
  • Facility Types : Work across an acute care hospital, outpatient clinic, and a freestanding GI center.

    • Procedures and Skills

  • Required Procedures :

    • Upper GI endoscopy with biopsy

  • Esophageal dilatation / manometry and interpretation
  • Small bowel biopsy
  • Lower GI endoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy with biopsy / excision of polyps
  • Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)
  • Preferred Advanced Procedures :

    • ERCP

  • Liver biopsy
  • Foreign body removal and banding of varices

    • Qualifications

  • Licensing : Must hold or be willing to obtain a South Carolina medical license (licensing support available).
  • Certifications : ACLS, BLS, and DEA required.
  • Experience : Two years of post-training experience preferred.
  • Charting System : Experience with Epic is a plus.
