The Section of General Academic Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at Wake Forest University School of Medicine is seeking a collaborative, innovative physician leader to guide a dynamic and accomplished team. Our section includes 25 pediatricians across all ranks, 5 advanced practice providers (APPs), and several cross-appointed PhD researchers. Faculty members are actively engaged in clinical care, research, education, quality improvement, advocacy, and community outreach. Many hold leadership roles in national organizations such as the AAP, NC AAP Chapter, and APA.
Clinical Environment :
We provide care in a community-based pediatric primary care clinic, certified as a patient-centered medical home serving an under-resourced population. The clinic is also the primary teaching site for our pediatric residency program. Our providers staff the newborn nursery in a state-of-the-art labor and delivery suite and mother-baby unit opened in 2019.
Research Focus Areas :
Our team leads impactful research in health-related social needs, including food insecurity, obesity prevention and treatment, early childhood development, literacy and school readiness, early relational health, biomedical informatics, and vaccinations.
Position Summary
The Section Head plays a vital leadership role, overseeing clinical, academic, and administrative functions. This position requires a balance of strategic vision, operational management, and mentorship to foster excellence across all missions.
