PRIMARY PURPOSE :
Supports the Environmental, Health, and Safety team with administrative and in-plant support of EHS programs and regulations.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Supports the companies' efforts in creating a safe working environment for all of our employees by establishing comprehensive environmental, health and safety (EHS) programs.
- Assists in the preparation of governmental agency reporting paperwork including DOT-PHMSA, FDEP, FDOH, FL SERC, USEPA, USEPA-FIFRA, and Pinellas County Industrial Pretreatment Program. Maintains accuracy of preparatory documents and submittal information for proper reporting and recordkeeping.
- Recognize, evaluate, and aid in the control of hazards including chemical, physical, and others that might be encountered in the workplace
- Partner with managers and supervisors to ensure safety is part of day to day operations
- Perform environmental monitoring including but limited to : personal and area air monitoring, noise monitoring and indoor air quality (IAQ) investigations
- Develops and maintains necessary records and files for efficient and compliant operation of the EHS Department.
- Develop Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) pages for products being dispensed, produced and developed (pilots). Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for the facility.
- Develop and work with cross functional teams to assure PSM & RMP compliance
- Reviews and prepares documents and saves them, in a systematic and logical manner, in the document management system (Master Control), designated departmental share folder, and / or EHS master files, Ability to tie subjects together from various documents to search and find related topics.
- Participate in development, review and implementation of EHS standards and policies.
- Prepares OSHA reporting logs, internal accident reporting system, safety incident investigations, corrective action resolution, and any weekly / monthly safety summaries and Safety communications.
- Helps ensure the physicals, exams, testing, and training are completed as directed for programs such as respiratory protection, hearing conservation, confined space entry, forklift operator, etc.
- Works directly with employees to ensure EHS on-boarding training requirements are met, annual refresher training is provided, and all safety-required PPE is inventoried appropriately, assigned, and maintained.
- Issues requisitions and purchase orders and processes invoices from outside vendors.
- Performs periodic (daily / weekly / monthly) environmental inspections of areas and identifies and corrects any compliance gaps.
- Performs other EHS functions, as necessary.
- Must be available to be on call (on rotation).
- Lead investigations into EHS incidents, identify root causes, and develop and implement corrective and preventative action plans (CAPA)
QUALIFICATION :
Experience in general industry and applicable regulations.The ability to customize educational programs to the needs of the business as required by applicable government agencies.The ability to communicate well with others.Must be extremely organized and keep accurate record and documentation.Ability to track trends and produce annual reporting to government agencies as required by regulations.Preferred Additional
Experience in the chemical industry, pharmaceutical and / or medical device and cosmetic industry.Strong background and knowledge of manufacturing environments, cGMP, FDA, DOT-PHMSA, FDEP, FDOH, FL SERC, USEPA, USEPA-FIFRA, Pinellas County Industrial Pretreatment Program NFPA, NIOSH, and clean room experience.Experience with local government agencies.COMPUTER SKILLS :
Power Point, Word, Excel, and a basic understanding of MicroSoft media applications is required.Technical Skills and Experience
(i.e., computing, negotiating)
Familiarity with different types of monitoring equipment that may be needed to conduct safety analysis in work areas.Education and / or Training
Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or other related field.Certifications in First Aid and CPR.Hazcom and DOT training.
