Position Overview : The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements, and supporting strategic financial planning. This role plays a key part in managing the general ledger, preparing financial statements, and leading the monthly close process.

The Accounting Manager will be expected to work on-site five days a week in our Somerset, NJ office.

Key Responsibilities :

Management

  • Oversee and maintain the general ledger and sub-ledger reconciliations.
  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports.
  • Monitor and report on key financial metrics and variances.

Transactions

  • Ensure that the monthly close is completed in the first five days of each month
  • Prepare the monthly report file
  • Prepare variance analysis of major accounts
  • Prepare job costing reports periodically
  • Prepare the weekly accounting dashboard
  • Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed
  • Maintain the chart of accounts
  • Compliance

  • Coordinate the provision of information to external and external auditors
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulations.
  • Maintain internal controls and accounting policies.
  • Prepare and file tax documents and regulatory reports.
  • Team Leadership

  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff.
  • Coordinate cross-functional collaboration with other departments.
  • Provide training and development opportunities.
  • Qualifications :

  • A minimum 5 years of experience and a progressive responsibility experience for a major company or division of a large corporation.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration.
  • Ability to relate to employees and understand their needs;
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written;
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to self-check own work;
  • Excellent time management skills ;
  • Task oriented excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize work load;
  • Enthusiastic attitude, cooperative team player, adaptable to new or changing circumstances, professional demeanor, sensitive to client needs, self-motivated, creative and innovative;
  • Excellent problem solving skills; and
  • High level of computer literacy including working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and Outlook.
  • Physical requirements and work environment :

  • Must be able to sustain office work for 8+ hours per day including the following :
  • Sitting in an office chair

  • Typing
  • Reaching for the telephone
  • Standing at office equipment
  • Hearing for phone use
  • Sight for computer use
  • Office environment is of moderate noise level.
