The Registered Nurse (RN) in Medical-Surgical provides compassionate, patient-centered care by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing interventions based on professional and ethical standards.   • Respects patient values, preferences, and expressed needs during care provision.\n\nResponsibilities : \n
  • Standards of Practice : Guided by the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, the RN employs the nursing process including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, evaluation, coordination of care, health teaching, and health promotion.\n
  • Standards of Professional Performance : The RN is accountable for practicing ethically, communicating effectively, collaborating with key stakeholders, leading within the practice setting, seeking continued education, and integrating evidence and research into practice.\n\nQualifications : \n\nEducation : Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required, with a BSN preferred. Current BCLS certification is mandatory within one month of hire.\n\nExperience : This description serves as a foundation for all RNs. All RNs are encouraged to pursue advancement through the SPIRE clinical advancement program.\n\nLicensure : Candidates must be a licensed and currently registered nurse in the State of Connecticut. Clinical specialty certification is highly encouraged.\n\nSpecial Skills : As foundational contributors, all RNs should aim to advance through the SPIRE clinical advancement program.\n\nPhysical Demands : This role requires prolonged periods of standing and walking, as well as the use of sight, hearing, and touch. RNs may encounter infectious diseases and have exposure to various physical and emotional challenges during patient care.\n\nAdditional Information : \n\nThis position falls under the Connecticut Healthcare Associates Collective Bargaining Agreement.
