ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO :
Reading and interpreting blue print drawings, electronic or hand written, utilizes basic math skills and has basic mechanical aptitude.
Communicates with person requesting project and makes necessary adjustments to accomplish the goal in the most efficient and economical way.
Adaptable to priority changes based on production and facility necessities.
Operates forklifts and man lifts in a safe and orderly fashion.
Maintains proper 5-S conditions in accordance with TGMO policy.
Sets up and operates fabricating machines (i.e. mig / tig / arc welder, brakes, waterjet, shears, flame cutters, paint booth, drill presses, band saws, ironworker, power tools.
Has all hot work permits in place, as well as all other protective equipment.
Locates and marks bending and cutting lines onto work piece.
Verifies conformance of work piece to specifications, using square, ruler, and measuring tape.
Ability to properly adjust weld settings based on materials being joined to accommodate structural integrity.
Build prototypes and test products while communicating effectively with the customer.
Inspects weld penetration visually and properly prepares the finished product for paint and customer integration. (i.e. deburring, rounding edges)
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and / or training with 60 day evaluation period; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Continued education requirements per written department policy.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to understand and interpret metric and standard units and convert between each when needed. Ability to understand both fractional and decimal systems.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Forklift license and training
Hot work permits
Continued education / testing
Waterjet certification as applicable to the position.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must be able to operate the following equipment : arc welder, oxy-acetelene brazing, micro-inert gas welder (MIG), tungsten inert gas welder (TIG), cutting torch, plasma arc torch, forklift, man lift, 110 ton Iron worker variety of metal working equipment., 60,000 psi waterjet (as applicable), hydraulic brake, mechanical shear, mandrel tubing bender, and power tools.
Training in the following areas is also required : basic welding, basic electricity, basic drafting knowledge, forklift safety and lockout-tagout.
