GBS is seeking a Senior Database Architect responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the logical and physical database structures that support the client systems such as FPPS and NextFPPS. This position ensures that database architectures are efficient, scalable, and aligned with system requirements, while addressing performance, portability, and integration with existing and legacy systems. The work will be performed remotely with occasional on-site visits.
Job Functions
- Develop new, and maintain existing, user interfaces; identify the major components and interfaces of the system.
- Map and maintain traceability of the design to requirements.
- Conduct design reviews to clarify design drivers.
- Identify and weigh portability considerations, potential capacity, and performance implications.
- Create the logical and physical database design for a system using data modeling and data normalization techniques.
- Identify existing systems that may be reused; identify any integration issues with legacy systems; and other pertinent design information.
- Collaborate with system developers, DBAs, and analysts to ensure data integrity, availability, and optimal performance.
- Support database-related portions of system conversions, migrations, and modernization efforts as required by IBC HRD.
Experience Requirements
Proficiency in data mining, machine learning, statistical analysis, and modeling.Strong experience with programming languages like Python, R, or Scala.Skills and Abilities
Familiarity with data management tools and platforms such as SQL, Hadoop, or Spark.Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.Effective communication skills for translating complex quantitative analysis into actionable insights.Education / Certification Requirements
Master's degree or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.3+ years of experience in data science, preferably with experience in analyzing government or similarly complex datasets.Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.Must be able to obtain a position of public trust with the US Government.A background check will be required.
