Position : Maintenance Mechanic
Location : Grandview, MO Manufacturing Facility
Reports To : Maintenance Supervisor
Position Summary : Included in the summary are all duties performed by Maintenance Mechanics. Maintenance Mechanics are responsible for the mechanical, electrical and instrument repair, inspection and construction of all equipment in the plant. The position also performs preventive maintenance activities, fluid analysis, assistance in parts procurement, spare parts inventory maintenance and other related duties.

Minimum Qualifications :
Education : High School Diploma or GED
Experience : Minimum three (3) years maintenance experience. Food or beverage manufacturing environment preferred.
Essential Job Functions
Following prescribed guidelines and under general supervision, the Maintenance Mechanic performs the following duties :
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical or instrumental problems and makes necessary repairs. Repairs can include adjustment, parts replacement, lubricating, tear down, rebuilding, and other repairs.
- Uses equipment as required to complete the duties of their position guide. Some equipment used by Maintenance Mechanics includes welders, acetylene torches, various power tools, lathe drill press and all types of hand tools.
- Fabricates and constructs for new and existing facilities. Fabrication and construction can include mechanical, masonry, carpentry, electrical (3-phase and single phase), or other areas of work. Some work must be done from ladders, scaffolding, or other forms of temporary work platforms.
- Performs preventive and predictive maintenance duties including equipment checking, parts replacement, lubrication, fluid analysis, treatment additives analysis, efficiency checking, and other duties.
- Works from work orders, piping schematics, engineering drawings, and other instructions.
- Prepares and maintains records on spare parts inventories. Follows department procedures to maintain levels of spare parts inventories. Assists supervision in procurement of parts and supplies.
- Cleans and sanitizes equipment as required by Plant Operating Standards. Maintains a clean, neat and orderly work area to meet plant sanitation standards.
- Takes action as instructed by the Maintenance Supervisor or other management by direct communication either written, oral or plant communication system.
- Takes action consistent with established procedures during any emergency condition. Notifies appropriate personnel when an emergency condition is observed. Always works in accordance with established safety procedures and uses prescribed safety equipment. Follows all safety rules.
- Performs other jobs in other classifications as instructed by supervision.
- Assists in training personnel as required.
- Prepares records of activities in log books, on batch log sheets, or on other forms and presents them to supervision. Correctly indicates all repairs made, parts used, analysis performed, and other related information.
- Must have a good level of comfort with Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS) systems to appropriately track and complete work orders. This requires tracking of parts used, hours worked and any other comments necessary.
General Working Environment
Maintenance Mechanics are required to work with equipment that handles acids and products at elevated temperatures. When working with this type of equipment, Maintenance Mechanics are expected to wear PPE such as face shields, safety glasses, “hot” gloves, and safety shoes. Maintenance Mechanics must be familiar with vessel entry, pipe opening, and electrical lockout procedures.
Work Relationships
In the absence of the Maintenance Supervisor or other department leader, the Maintenance Mechanic will report to the Production Supervisor (primarily applies to Maintenance Mechanics on duty during evening and midnight shifts).
