An SOE (Service Operations Engineering) Cloud Architect for McKesson Pharmacy Systems (MPS) will help design, develop, and implement scalable, secure, and resilient cloud solutions for McKesson’s customer-critical SaaS product offerings. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in cloud platforms (Azure ), infrastructure-as-code, and cloud- application design. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to align cloud strategies with our SaaS offerings and business goals to ensure optimal performance, cost-efficiency, and security.

This individual will be responsible for translating the client's business requirements into specific systems, applications, or process designs for large, highly integrated, and complex cloud solutions. The SOE Architect acts as an advocate for the client, as the ultimate authority on the architecture designed to address client business problems and will provide direction for design activities.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement cloud architectures for achieving resiliency, high availability, and high performance of application software

Lead cloud migration initiatives and modernization of legacy systems

Define and enforce cloud governance, security, and compliance standards

Develop infrastructure-as-code templates using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates (Bicep)

Collaborate with DevOps, Security, and Development teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment

Ability to make judgments on architectural tradeoffs between competing requirements of the SaaS offerings and cloud technologies

Ability to effectively model, present, and communicate platform technology / cloud architecture to various audiences consisting of technical and non-technical, internal, and external customers

Ability to research, evaluate, and apply emerging technologies and architectural possibilities to the ongoing advancement of the SaaS offerings

Establish effective working relationships with other McKesson business units and functional groups to ensure a high-level of collaboration and synergistic benefits to MPS

Minimum Requirements :

Degree or equivalent and typically requires 4+ years of relevant experience.

Additional Requirements :

Minimum 4 years’ experience in designing, building, and implementing software business solutions on cloud platforms

Experience with / knowledge of various architectural techniques and implementations such as Services Oriented Architecture, loosely coupled design techniques, composite application design, and cloud architecture

Familiarity with crosscutting non-functional requirements of cloud technologies including security, performance, scalability, maintainability (deployment), reliability, and supportability

Experience in a customer-facing technical consultancy setting

Strong verbal and written communications skills; ability and willingness to develop and maintain internal- and customer-facing technical and procedural documentation

Familiarity with high-availability technologies, concepts, and architectural techniques provided by the cloud

Understanding of information security and risk management concepts, regulations, and certifications including disaster recovery, PHI, HIPAA, PCI, etc.; and information security and system access control policies and processes

Experience architecting cloud solutions on platforms such as Azure using technologies such as AKS, Docker, Function Apps, Service Buses, Storage Accounts, etc.

Experience with A.I. related tools such as CoPilot to speed application architecture and software design

Desired Technical Skills and Experience

Strong knowledge and / or hands-on experience with infrastructure platform technologies including Linux / Unix operating systems

Programming experience with Linux Scripting, Python, and Java / J2EE application framework and development tools

Cloud Database technologies – Oracle Exadata, Azure SQL, Azure Cosmos DB, etc.

Familiarity of serverless technologies such as Azure function apps

JBoss Enterprise Application Platform and Spring-boot applications

Strong networking fundamentals including firewalls / load balancers (F5, Imperva), application gateways, routers, web / proxy servers, etc. as well as networking tools and utilities

Monitoring and admin tools including Splunk, Dynatrace, App Insights, Log Analytics, etc.

DevOps Experience with tools like Jenkins, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub

Security and Platforms such as OKTA, Key Vaults, and Active Directory

Messaging Technologies / Protocols such as Kafka, JMS, Azure Event Hub / Service Bus, HTTP, XML, etc.

Knowledge of / experience in the retail pharmacy space

Agile Certification : SCRUM, KANBAN

Cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect)

Experience with hybrid cloud and multi-cloud environments

Specific experience in large SaaS applications

Familiarity with CI / CD pipelines and DevOps practices

Large / complex database-centric application experience

Experience managing large-scale systems or operations projects

Knowledge of cost optimization strategies and tools

$100,900 - $168,100
