Position Title Academic Studio Tutor FLSA Non-Exempt Full Time / Part Time Part Time Department Student Success & Persistence Campus Central Campus Location Central Campus Hourly Rate $11.33 per hr (no degree); $12.20 per hr (A.A.); $13.48 per hr (B.A.) Hours Part-time, include requirement and total hours per week - 19.5 Summary of Position

Provide academic support for Central Texas College students by conducting subject-specific tutorials; non-course based academic workshops, and training / information sessions. Support the departmental mission of promoting and encouraging student success by providing friendly customer service, referrals, resources and campus / community information through the Academic Studio – Student Success Center.

Minimum Required Education

Must have completed a minimum of six (6) credit hours at a college or university. Have completed all courses in tutoring content area with a B or better. Have a cumulative GPA of 2.75.

Minimum Required Experience

Knowledge of specific subject matter to be tutored (if and when specified above). Previous tutoring / peer mentoring experience is preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Must have excellent oral and written skills and be able to communicate effectively in English.
• Must be able to articulate the concepts, materials and skills as related to the specific subject tutoring.
• Must be able to lead group study.
• Must be comfortable presenting or facilitating training and disseminating information.
• Must be able to provide friendly customer service and peer mentorship.
• Must be comfortable using tutoring technologies that include Blackboard, Whiteboard, etc.
• Must assist with SSP special events that include but are not limited to New Student Orientation, Welcome Week, Study Up, etc.
• Tutors regularly make classroom visits and meet with faculty to better understand subject content area and to connect with students.
