Description :
Department : Med / Tele RN
Profile review and manager interview required.
Unit has 32 beds.
Nurse to patient ratios are 1 : 4-5, occasionally 5-6 on nights.
PCU level care overflow on the unit is 1 : 3.
Common diagnoses include adults and geriatrics with cardiac caths, EP studies, pacers, ETOH, and Covid Bipap.
Patients may also include those with a history of general surgical procedures and medical patients with cardiac histories.
Conditions treated include pneumonia, Covid, acute on chronic conditions, influenza, and sepsis.
Experience or must-have skills include Tele / cardiac experience with PCU knowledge, with Epic preferred.
First-time travelers are welcome.
Registered Nurses are required to titrate drips.
Common titratable and / or set rate drips include Amio, Cardizem, Heparin, Nitro, Nipride, and Lasix; low dose Dopamine is included, but no Levo.
Each shift has a charge nurse, who occasionally takes a light load of 2-3 patients.
Nurse aides / patient care techs are available on this unit with a goal of 1 : 10 ratio.
RNs handle troubleshooting for RT equipment such as Bipap, trachs, and airvo.
Tele / monitor techs are present on the unit with portable monitors and monitors in the rooms.
RNs are responsible for reading and interpreting their own strips.
Shift scheduling includes 7a-7p and 7p-7a.
If rotating shifts occur, a 7-7 rotation will not exceed weekly.
Management will create the schedule and consider blocked schedules based on unit needs.
Weekends are required every other.
Holidays are also required every other.
There is no call or standby requirement.
Floating is required to all areas as needed, including full patient loads in PCU and MS, and some ER holds / boarding.
Scrub colors are flexible; any color scrubs are acceptable.
Unit-specific orientation consists of 2 shifts on Friday and Saturday of the first week.
This is primarily a tele / cardiac unit.
Radius Rule : 50 miles.
Additional time off request must be submitted upfront and will not be approved afterward.
Cancellation policy includes 4 shifts per contract; 3 shifts if the contract is under 13 weeks.
Charting system used is Epic.
A BSN is not required.
Trauma level is 2.
Care setting is acute.
Division is nursing.
Weekend and holiday requirements included.
First to float expected as needed.
Required certifications include ACLS and BLS.
