The Career – What You Will Do
Apothecary Products, LLC (APL) is seeking a talented Director of Operations to join our team in Burnsville, Minnesota! In this role, you will be responsible for providing operational leadership in manufacturing, logistics, warehousing, and distribution in North America. This position is responsible for developing, implementing and managing people, processes and technology to deliver optimal efficiency and world-class service to APL customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Leadership
- Provide leadership by identifying departmental strategic goals and objectives and implementing plans and performance metrics that track progress to APL’s corporate strategic and tactical plans.
- Develop high performing work teams to effectively meet the changing needs of the business by motivating, organizing, and encouraging teamwork to ensure goals are met.
- Provides management of team members directly or through Supervisors to ensure effective staff planning, selection, retention, development, disciplinary action, and performance management; conducts meetings on regular basis with team.
- Lead APL safety program that breeds a behavior-based culture of safety
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure APL is meeting customer service levels across all revenue streams : Brick & Mortar Retailers, Wholesalers, eCommerce B2B and eCommerce B2C.
- Participate in developing and maintaining annual operating plans and quarterly financial estimates that guide organizational priorities and decision-making to meet business needs.
- Develop and monitor department budget; responsible for expense management and control, including headcount and overhead costs utilizing continuous improvement techniques.
- Collaborate with HR to design and implement effective recruiting, hiring, performance management & training programs for employees and supervisors resulting in a high-performance work force.
- Ensure inventory integrity and accuracy throughout APL onsite and offsite locations.
- Participate in acquisition due diligence and integration activities.
- Ensure that APL operates in compliance with all local, state, federal and international regulations and ordinances including FDA, OSHA, MPCA, EPA, etc. and applicable APL policies and procedures.
- Serve as a member of the Business Continuity Plan Incident Response team.
- Other duties as beneficial to the success of APL.
Manufacturing and Production
Lead the Production Team to continuously improve cost, safety, productivity, quality, and schedule adherence.Develop, install and ensure compliance to Production and Process Control SOP’s in support of APL Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance to regulatory requirements.Ensure capacity at appropriate costs to support assurance of supply to APL Customers.Develop and implement methods for analyzing production, system data integrity, effective labor productivity and utilization and equipment utilization.Assess, identify and document internal manufacturing capabilities and participate in the process of make versus buy decisions, selecting the best manufacturing options for new or existing products.Warehousing, Distribution and Logistics
Utilize Warehouse Management Systems to support eCommerce B2B, B2C and Brick & Mortar Customer order fulfillment activities and warehouse inventory movements.Coordinate and control the order cycle, monitoring quality, cost, and efficient of the movement and storage of inventory within the warehouse.Ensure that standard operating procedures are developed and maintained for all aspects in the distribution area.Evaluate warehousing processes and systems, make recommendations for improvements, and manage the implementation of approved process and system changes geared toward improving productivity and reducing expenses.Manage outbound and intercompany transportation, domestic and international, including the transportation management systems and carriers for TL, LTL, and Small Parcel in support of APL’s service level and cost objectives.Qualifications + Experience :
Education : Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, or related field.Work Experience : 8+ years’ work experience in a manufacturing and warehousing environment; experience leading direct and contract workforce.Preferred Experience : B2B and B2C experience preferred; experience with Amazon and / or 3PLs nationally or internationally preferred.Travel Requirement : Less than 10% domestically.The Company – Why Choose Us
