Global Impact Group LLC is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) and ISO 9001 / ISO 17100 certified provider of interpretation and translation services. We provide secure, high-quality language support in 80+ spoken and signed languages for USCIS and other federal agencies.

We are seeking Cantonese Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Cantonese, a major Chinese language spoken in Hong Kong, Macau, Guangdong, and diaspora communities, is a priority language often required for asylum, immigration, and refugee cases.

Responsibilities

  • Provide real-time Cantonese-English telephonic interpretation for USCIS officers, applicants, and stakeholders.
  • Interpret accurately, impartially, and confidentially in immigration, legal, and administrative settings.
  • Adhere to USCIS / DHS interpreter standards and ethics.
  • Handle both scheduled assignments and urgent / surge interpretation requests.
  • Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance reviews.

Qualifications

  • Native or near-native fluency in Cantonese and English.
  • 2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, legal, healthcare, community, or government preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and cultural awareness.
  • Excellent telephone communication skills; ability to remain accurate under pressure.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3 / Tier 5 federal clearance.
