About the Opportunity

UVA Health is seeking a  Board-Certified / Board-Eligible Hematologist / Oncologist  to join our expanding  UVA Community Health Cancer Service Line  in Northern Virginia. Based primarily at  UVA Culpeper Medical Center  and  UVA Gainesville Cancer Center , this position offers the opportunity to provide high-quality hematology and oncology care across multiple community locations, supported by the strength of the  University of Virginia’s academic medical center .

This is a  growth position  designed to meet the increasing demand for advanced cancer care in Northern Virginia.

Practice Highlights

  • Practice Setting :  Outpatient, hospital-based, single-specialty group
  • Schedule :  Monday–Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM (flexible 4-day workweek available)
  • Call :  1 : 6, providing nightly and weekend cross-coverage for UVA Culpeper, Prince William, and Haymarket Medical Centers
  • Clinical Volume :  15–20 clinic patients per day; average annual wRVUs ~5,500
  • Case Mix :  50% oncology / 50% hematology
  • Hospital Census :  Average 0–2 patients daily when rounding
  • Procedures :  Bone marrow biopsies (approx. 20 per year)
  • Virtual Health :  Telemedicine and virtual consults integrated into practice
  • Support Team :  Advanced Practice Clinicians (consult only), plus robust ancillary support including nutrition, social work, chaplaincy, smoking cessation, and patient advocacy services
  • Teaching Opportunities :  Engagement with UVA Hematology / Oncology fellows (0–2 per year rotate through)

Qualifications

  • MD / DO with Board Certification in Hematology and Oncology
  • Eligible for medical licensure in Virginia
  • Strong interest in delivering  state-of-the-art cancer care  in community settings
