Mission

Waséyabek Federal Services, LLC (WFS) is a 100% Tribally owned, Native American SBA 8(a) small business of the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi (NHBP). WFS is part of a portfolio of companies managed by Waséyabek Development Company, LLC, a 100% Tribally owned economic development firm focused on income diversification on behalf of NHBP that reaches beyond gaming is a well-funded, experienced small business, with substantial liquid assets and experience in federal contracting. WFS has borrowing capacity to meet the daily cash needs of new business development, new award support, and operational working capital. Position Summary

The Facilities Maintenance Technician 3 - R&D, under general supervision and / or using detailed procedures / work instructions, safely performs a variety of mechanical tasks in support of R&D projects. These tasks include the installation, modification and maintenance activities associated with mechanical equipment or systems such as vessels, piping, pumps, etc.

Responsibilities :

  • Installation of Swagelok fractional tubing and tubing components such as valves, regulators, and gauges.
  • Installation of Autoclave Engineers cone and threaded tubing and tubing components
  • Set up and perform pneumatic and hydrostatic pressure testing.
  • Remove, form, pour and cure insulating refractory in process vessels.
  • Use machine shop equipment such as an Omax waterjet cutting machine and metal shear to cut metal.
  • Perform non-code welding to fabricate or repair non-critical items.
  • Provide custom sheet metal forming / work.
  • Use Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) to install threaded and flanged piping along with other process equipment.
  • Install insulation on piping and process vessels.
  • Assemble / erect bolted steel structures.
  • Perform hoisting and rigging of large equipment.
  • Perform wall penetrations and securing materials, all per IPC and NETL policy.
  • Identify stock material needs such as fasteners, strut, or sheet metal, then track location and quantity.
  • Operate forklift, manlifts, skid steer loader, etc.
  • Overhaul or repair equipment and valves, then functionally test to ensure proper operation.
  • Use Lock-out Tag-out (LOTO) plans to ensure work is performed safely.
  • Other duties as assigned to ensure timely project execution.
  • Maintaining facilities in clean, safe and orderly condition.
  • Organizing interior and exterior of shop and other maintenance facilities.

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

  • A High School diploma or GED is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of job-related mechanical experience in an industrial / construction environment is required.
  • Possess a Swagelok tube fitter certification.
  • Excellent attention to detail is required.
  • Ability to understand verbal instructions.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and excellent attention to detail are required.
  • Trained in the use of forklifts and manlifts.
  • Basic knowledge of computer systems and software programs for administrative duties such as Email is required.
  • Must have a valid U.S. driver's license.
  • Must demonstrate a good driving record (no significant violations such as DUI, loss of license, inability to obtain personal insurance or currently covered under a high-risk insurance policy, etc.)
  • Ability to pass a Fit for Duty employment test to verify the ability to meet the physical and functional demands of the position.
  • Ability to pass a drug screen.
  • Ability to pass a background investigation, including but not limited to a nationwide criminal record search, and other relevant background information deemed necessary by the contract.
  • United States citizenship is required to work on a federal contract and will be electronically verified via E-Verify.
  • Preferred Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

  • High school diploma or GED / TASC / HiSET with at least ten (10) years of job- related experience or a bachelor's degree in a related field with at least eight (8) years of job-related experience
  • Possess a plumber’s license
  • Experienced in the installation of Autoclave Engineers coned and threaded tubing
  • Able to understand and troubleshoot complex mechanical systems along with basic low voltage electrical controls
  • Conditions of Employment :

  • Must have a valid U.S. driver's license.
  • Must be able to pass a post-offer drug test, pre-placement physical examination, and medical history check.
  • Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check
  • Must have a clean motor vehicle report (MVR). Must demonstrate a good driving record (no significant violations such as DUI, loss of license, inability to obtain personal insurance or currently covered under a high-risk insurance policy, etc.).
  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the UMWA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Able to work night, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Physical and Mental Demands :

  • Such positions may involve routine lifting of up to 50 pounds, regular handling, grasping, kneeling, and carrying.
  • Constant use of vision and mental alertness is required.
  • Work Environment :

  • Most positions involve work in environments (e.g., projects, labs, outside locations, etc. where mechanical equipment is being installed, tested, analyzed, monitored, or operated and / or maintained. Equipment may be loud and noisy and or have exposed moving components.
  • Majority of the workday is in a variety of environments including outdoors, lab / research areas and inside administrative areas.
  • Assists in performing maintenance, housekeeping, or administrative duties in a typical shop environment where certain hazards do exist
  • Integrated Safety Management :

  • Know and follow environment, safety, and health (ES&H) policies and procedures that apply to their job assignments.
  • Become knowledgeable of and maintain awareness of the ES&H hazards associated with their work. Perform work safely in accordance with hazard controls.
  • Report all unsafe operations, and, if necessary, exercise stop-work authority in cases of imminent danger.
  • Work only on those tasks in which they have the required competence, training, skills, and abilities to prevent injury to oneself, employees, the public, or the environment.
  • Maintain active involvement in the introduction, revision, and / or promotion of ES&H / ISM program activities.
  • Hours of Work :

  • This is typically an 8 hour per day daylight schedule.
