About The Position

Certifications : BLS required

Must-Have : Level 1 trauma experience required

Description :

The position requires a RN with strong Med Surg experience.

Rehab experience is preferred.

The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 6.

Nurses are expected to be comfortable with high levels of communication and personal involvement with patients and families.

Acute Med Surg care, including IV therapy and wound care, is required.

The unit has a patient population that is predominantly neuro-focused.

Common diagnoses include traumatic brain injury, brain tumor resection, cerebrovascular accident, lung transplant, and liver transplant.

The average length of stay is 19-21 days.

Nurses will participate in interdisciplinary team rounds.

Float requirements to any Med Surg unit may occur.

Weekend requirements include working 4 shifts within an 8-week period.

Holidays will be worked into the core rotation.

Charting is performed using Cerner.

The hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts during the 13-week assignment.
