Job Summary :

The Entomology Laboratory Assistant will work with insects, plant material, and nematodes to perform detailed laboratory and greenhouse tasks supporting research and testing activities. This position involves rotating between laboratory, greenhouse, and insectary environments while maintaining strict adherence to safety and ergonomic standards. Comprehensive safety and SOP training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Clip and thin plants used in testing.
  • Infest plant and artificial diet material with various non-stinging, non-hazardous insect species.
  • Prepare and apply assays using manual pipettes, hand sprayers, and track sprayers.
  • Assist with laboratory maintenance including cleaning, restocking, and organization.
  • Grade insect assays and record evaluation data.
  • Prepare media and materials used in entomology testing.
  • Serve as a scribe for evaluators during assay grading or testing.

Required Skills :

  • Self-driven individual capable of working independently or collaboratively within a team.
  • Flexibility to shift focus throughout the day based on research or testing needs.
  • Strong time management and communication skills.
  • Ability to follow protocols, SOPs, and detailed directions accurately.
  • Must have prior work experience (not necessarily lab-related).

    • Education :

    Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Biology, Entomology, or a related scientific field.

    Safety and Compliance :

    Must adhere to all Corteva EH&S (Environmental Health & Safety) protocols.

    Use appropriate PPE and follow laboratory safety and ergonomic procedures at all times.

    Soft Skills :

  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Effective documentation and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across diverse teams while maintaining high-quality standards.
