Description :
Overview of Position : The Snowmaking team at Windham Mountain is responsible for the maintenance, installation, safe operation, and inspection of the snowmaking systems as well as the quality of manufactured snow.
Job Responsibilities :
Level 1
- Assist Level 2 & 3 snowmakers in field operations.
- Follow all safety procedures and protocols.
- Actively participate in Level 1 snowmaker training in the following :
- Trail locations and names.
- Valve locations.
- High pressure hydrant safety practices.
- Proper PPE use.
- Basic comprehension of snow gun types.
- Understanding of air and water uses and practices.
- Proper hydrant hookup procedures.
- Startup and shut down procedures.
- Emergency shut down procedures.
- Snow quality testing.
Level 2
Independently perform all Level 1 responsibilities.Minimum 1 year snowmaking experience.Actively participate in Level 2 snowmaker training in the following :Operate vehicles and equipment safely and correctly.In-depth knowledge of various snow guns and components.Hydrant repair.Switching auto guns to manual.Solo shutdown (with observation).Lead team on production runs.Lead team on startup and shutdown.Lead team on emergency shutdowns.Contribute ideas on production optimization per trail.Understand differences between base, production, and resurfacing snow products.Maximize snow quality.Assist in level 1 snowmaker training.Understand how to safely and correctly start, stop, and adjust fan guns.Climb ladders and other equipment using proper PPE without supervision.Level 3
Independently perform all Level 1 & 2 responsibilities.Minimum 3 years snowmaking experience.Actively participate in Level 3 snowmaker training in the following :Perform West & Adventure Park booster pump startup and shutdown.Service east and west booster pump filters during operations.Swap hoses on fan guns.Light and shutdown trails solo (with observation).In-depth knowledge of infrastructure.Perform diagnostics of gun operational issues and technical issues.Repair gun operational issues.Identify and correct production quality issues on trails.Requirements : Job Qualifications :
Must be at least 18 years of age.Previous snowmaking experience preferred.2+ years education or experience in construction, heavy machinery operation, or related electric / mechanical / technician fields.Basic understanding of OSHA workplace safety standards.Physical Requirements :
Must be able to use required weather protection and safety equipment without impedimentsMust be able to regularly and consistently lift and maneuver up to 50 poundsMust be able to safely walk, climb, and navigate uneven terrain with snow and ice-covered hills and surfacesMust be able to hike long distances on steep terrainMust be able to work up to 10 hours per day in any outdoor winter weather conditionsAbility to push, pull, stoop, kneel, squat, and reach regularlyWork Schedule and Conditions : We are in the business of providing premier guest experiences. Traditionally our busy periods are during weekends and holidays which you will be expected to work. You can also expect to be asked to work extra hours or days on occasion, especially during the holiday periods or in the event of an equipment malfunction.
