We are seeking a skilled Claims Representative to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for investigating, evaluating, and claim settlements. You will work directly with insureds, claimants, witnesses, employers and others to resolve claims while ensuring compliance with company policies and state regulations.
What does a CLAIMS REPRESENTATIVE LEVEL I do?
- Establishes proof of loss by studying documentation submitted; assembling additional information as required from outside sources such as claimant, witnesses, physician, employer, hospital, and other insurance companies; initiates investigation of liability disputes, as well as questionable claims.
- Resolves claim by approving or denying documentation; calculating benefits due; initiating payment or composing denial letter.
- Ensure legal compliance by following guidelines, company policies, and state and federal insurance regulations.
- Assigns field appraisers to assist with investigation.
- Efficiency in time management, multi-tasking, and organizational skills to handle a high volume of claims.
- Gathers and evaluates coverage information, takes recorded statements, secures police reports, repair estimates and other related documents.
What is required?
Education : High School Diploma or Equivalent; Bachelor's degree is preferred.Licenses / Certifications : To perform the essential functions of this job an active Adjuster License will be required to comply with state and GAINSCO requirements. Upon hire, additional license(s) may be required. If that is the case, license(s) must be obtained. All licenses must be maintained in accordance with state requirements.Experience : 1 or more years of experience in Auto Insurance as a Claims Adjuster is required. 1 or more years of experience in handling liability claims in an auto insurance claims department is required. 1 or more years of experience in managing moderately complex coverage issues related to auto claims is preferred. Understanding of auto coverage for non-standard auto insurance claims is a plus.Other skills and abilities :
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.Ability to manage time while prioritizing multiple tasks.Ability to remain calm when dealing with difficult customers.Effective negotiating skills.Ability to gather and analyze information in order to evaluate results and choose the best solution to the problem.Occasional weekend work may be required.What else do you need to know?
