Responsibilities Work in an acute care hospital PACU setting with both Phase 1 and Phase 2 recovery Unit has 15 beds, caring for a mixed patient population including pediatric patients and patients with disabilities Common cases include all OR types except transplant, with ICU patients occasionally recovered in PACU Nurse to patient ratios are 1 : 2 and 1 : 1 for pediatric or high acuity patients RT equipment ranges from ventilators to nasal cannula use RNs are required to read telemetry strips Uses Epic EMR system Day shifts with mixed 8 and 12 hour shift lengths and on-call requirements Expect 1-2 weeknight on-call shifts and 24 hours of weekend call per 6 week schedule Holiday call coverage may be required Call response time is 30 minutes Travelers are first to float to inpatient units as helping hands or sitters Scrubs are provided by the facility Offers two days of PACU orientation and a buddy call on the first weekend Responsible for providing compassionate care to a diverse patient group, including pediatric and high acuity cases Charge nurse available on each shift; travelers will not be assigned charge responsibilities Team environment with occasional support from nurse aides and responsibility to transport patients as needed Kindness, efficiency, and teamwork are valued attributes for this unit Radius rule of 50 miles applies; candidates must not be employed full-time, part-time, or PRN at any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities within the past year RTO must be requested upfront (7 or fewer days per 13-week contract); no additional RTO will be approved First-time travelers will be considered Requirements Active ND or compact RN license required at time of consideration Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required Minimum of 3 years RN experience preferred Experience recovering pediatric patients is required Willingness to recover second phase patients out of OR is required Experience caring for vented patients on pressors and administering blood products preferred Epic EMR experience preferred Must provide two references : one supervisor from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-610547.
