Job Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Department RN for a Level II Trauma Center night shift position requiring a WA or compact RN license and multiple advanced certifications.
Responsibilities Work in the Emergency Department of a Level II Trauma Center
60-bed ED with 21 inpatient holding beds, 2 psych rooms, and 14 hall spaces
Cares for all ages from pediatric to geriatric, with trauma, cardiac, medical, surgical, psychiatric, and high-acuity cases
Average daily census of 140-150 patients
Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 4, which may flex to 1 : 5 for low acuity
Shift is 12-hour nights with every other weekend rotation
No floating required
Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and central / bedside telemetry monitoring at the nursing station
First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
Supported by ER techs, resource / float nurses, charge nurse, RT, educator, pharmacy, house supervisor, and security 24 / 7
Required to work three of five major holidays : Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
Professional attire required; any scrub color permitted if professional

Up to 5 days of time off may be approved

Requirements Active WA or compact RN license required
Minimum 1 year of strong Emergency Department RN experience
Current certifications required : BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS, and CPI / MOAB
Ability to interpret cardiac rhythms, manage IVs, administer drips, perform procedural sedation, administer blood products, and use cardiac medications
Traveler Telemetry Competency Exam must be passed prior to start
