Performs entry-level specialized work in law enforcement for the Police Department. Work is normally performed under the supervision of a ranking or senior officer; however, a Police Officer is frequently required to use independent judgment and discretion. Quality of performance is reviewed constantly by supervisors. Work involves responsibility for the rapid and efficient performance of specialized duties under normal and emergency conditions and may involve threats to personal safety and / or life.

A criminal history check, including FCIC / NCIC, and a driving record check shall be conducted for all applicants as part of the application process. Any applicant who does not meet Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission (CJSTC) requirements or City of Coconut Creek Police Department standards shall not be eligible for further consideration.

NEW Florida Recruitment Program $5,000 Signing Bonus for New Florida Certified Officers & $1,000 Reimbursement for EOT
$7500 Signing Bonus for EXPERIENCED Florida State Certified Law Enforcement Officer Candidates
Eligibility - You must be presently employed as a law enforcement officer, hold current certification as a Law Enforcement Officer in the State of Florida AND have a minimum of ONE (1) YEAR full-time sworn, law enforcement experience (in the State of Florida immediately prior to your application date). Former City of Coconut Creek Police Officers are not eligible for the signing bonus.
Payment - $7,500 shall be paid upon hire. Repayment
(0 - 1) year of completed service : If you fail to complete one (1) year of service, the $7,500 signing bonus must be paid back in full. (1 -2) years of completed service : If you complete one (1) year of service but fail to complete two (2) years of service, you must repay 50% of the signing bonus.
Subject to applicable payroll taxes. Monies stated above are subject to repayment if the new hire separates employment within the first two (2) years of employment. This bonus program may be discontinued without notice, at any time.

Must possess current certification as a Law Enforcement Officer in the State of Florida as described under Chapter 493 of the Florida Statutes (F.S), or be currently enrolled in a State of Florida Police Academy and will have successfully completed all required profiles of that Academy and will be able to obtain a Florida Law Enforcement Certification prior to employment, or successfully completed basic recruit training at a certified Police Academy (out of state) at a certified Police Academy with the ability to obtain a certification from the State of Florida as a Law Enforcement Officer as described under Chapter 943, Florida Statutes (F.S) prior to employment.
