Manufacturing Engineer

Overview

Manufacturing Engineer at Hendrickson - Design and develop tooling, and processes to support new product development, product improvements, and capacity expansions. Act as project team member representing Manufacturing Engineering department.

Essential Functions

• Provide layouts, equipment specifications and oversee the installation of all incoming tooling and machines.
• Maintain and improve plant layout with new workstations and new tooling.
• Generate concepts and details of gauging, fixtures, and tooling. Tolerance drawings per Hendrickson practices. Inspect drawings for proper form, fit, function and dimensioning.
• Design and fabricate various tooling to support production to meet Safety, Quality and Productivity goals.
• Design and implement control systems for new and existing tooling.
• When necessary, evaluate existing tooling and fixturing to determine optimum method of use and implement any necessary improvement.
• Support production daily by helping solve problems in a timely manner.
• Support all various function in the Controls Business Unit (Safety, Quality, Production, Materials) with facility layouts, training, equipment recommendation, CERs, design and implementation of improvements generated by the plant and the management team.
• Work closely with outside vendors to maintain and maximize equipment life in order to provide highest quality part at lowest cost.
• Design and implement various material handling system to increase space utilization, reduce redundancy, and improve workstation safety, increase productivity.
• Keep abreast of new and upcoming technologies and pursue the implementation of new and improved processes to increase the plant effectiveness and efficiency.

Education and Training

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or other related degreed program with equivalent experience in applicable area is acceptable.
