Thompson Engineering has a full-time opportunity for a Professional Land Surveyor II. The Professional Land Surveyor II performs a variety of duties associated with land surveying, civil engineering and marine engineering. This position provides guidance and direction to survey crews, preparation of survey documents and represents the company to all regulatory agencies.
Duties :
- Performs a variety of office and field tasks associated with land surveying, civil engineering and marine engineering projects obtained by the company.
- Prepares proposals and contracts for land surveying.
- Consults with clients.
- Provides guidance and direction to field crews and engineering and surveying technicians.
- Oversees all surveying aspects of civil and marine engineering projects, and prepares all types of survey plans.
- Provides Land Court and trial testimony on behalf of the company.
- Conducts presentations on behalf of the company for local and state regulatory hearings.
- Prepares flood elevation certificates.
- Researches and reviews deeds and plans to ensure accurate information is obtained.
- Ensures proper reporting of data collection and survey computations.
- Uses computer-aided design and drafting to prepare survey plans.
- Conduct all work activities in compliance with Thompson Holdings, Inc. Health, Safety & Environmental Management System, safety policies & procedures, safety execution plans and Job Safety and Environmental Analyses.
- Attend and pro-actively participate in monthly safety meetings, project toolbox safety meetings and safety moments.
- On time and consistent attendance is required
Minimum Requirements
Seven (7) years verifiable experience in surveying commercial, residential, and / or industrial construction or combination of experience and relevant educationState license required for state in which work is performedHigh school diploma or equivalentMust have a valid Driver's LicenseBe able to read and comprehend measurementsIntermediate math skills which include trigonometry and coordinate geometryMust be able to communicate effectively with othersAbility to travel and stay overnight based on the work load of the Survey DepartmentPhysical Requirements
Ability to work in the outside elements of the field up to 100% of the time.Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs.Required to remain standing for a minimum of eight (8) hours per day and walk long distances.Must be able to bend, stoop and climb on a ladder.Must be able to drive a company vehicle to and from job sites.
