Overview : The Mercy Hospital Joplin Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is a Level III facility that offers the region's best care for premature or critically ill infants. Our 12-bed facility is staffed with Neonatal Nurses, Respiratory Therapists, and the support of Mercy Kids pediatric specialist services in the area. Functionally, our nurses care for Infants 23 weeks gestation born prematurely to newborns with critical conditions. The typical Nurse to Patient Ratio is based on the acuity of each patient.
