Description :

This is a surgical oncology unit.

The unit has 30 beds.

There are 48 staff members, including nurses and patient care technicians.

Typical staffing includes a charge nurse and several RNs and patient care technicians for both day and night shifts.

Patient ratios are estimated at 1 : 5 or 1 : 6.

Equipment used includes Baxter pumps, SCD machines, Mobilab, and glucometers.

The electronic medical record system is Meditech.

Key skills sought after include IV insertion and chemotherapy administration.

Typical procedures performed on the unit include medication administration, chest tube management, NGT management, and Foley management.

Candidates should be able to work effectively as part of a team.

The unit adheres to an attendance policy.

Every other weekend or four weekend shifts per month are required.
