Position Objective :

The Pastry Cook is responsible for preparing high-quality pastries, garnishes, ice creams, and baked goods for the restaurant, banquets, and offsite catering. This role upholds the highest standards of quality, consistency, and presentation to ensure exceptional culinary experience for every guest.

Essential Job Functions :

  • Pastry Preparation : Produce high-quality pastries for buffets, banquets, and restaurant service following standard recipes.
  • Banquet & Buffet Orders : Plan, prepare, and execute BEO buffet and plated dessert orders accurately and on time.
  • Daily Pastries : Bake fresh breads and breakfast pastries daily in alignment with established recipes.
  • Restaurant Support : Assist with setup, service, and breakdown of lunch and dinner plating stations as required.
  • Presentation : Inspect baked goods to ensure proper color, texture, and visual appeal for consistent guest satisfaction.
  • Cost Management : Support food and labor cost control while maintaining the highest standards of quality and consistency.
  • Storage & Freshness : Store all pastry items properly to ensure freshness and food safety.
  • Waste Minimization : Rotate stock and manage product use effectively to reduce spoilage and waste.
  • Equipment Care : Clean and maintain all kitchen equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Special Orders & Cross-Training : Assist with custom orders, buffet displays, and cross-train in other culinary areas as needed.

Education / Experience :

  • Education : High school diploma or equivalent required. Pastry degree preferred.
  • Experience : Baking experience preferred.
  • Skills & Requirements :

  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Solid knowledge of pastry and bread-making techniques.
  • Strong understanding of sanitation and food safety standards.
  • Experience operating kitchen equipment, including slicers, mixers, grinders, and food processors.
  • Basic math skills to manage recipes, measurements, requisitions, and portion sizes.
  • Fundamental computational and computer skills.
