job_description.job_card.job_descriptionPerforms and assist with spirometry testing ensuring accuracy, reliability, repeatability and ATS quality standards are obtained. Quality reviews all clinic spirometry and processes for appropriate billing and Interpretation. Ensures all clinic spirometry quality control is completed and supplies available. Performs exhaled nitric oxide testing and enters reportable results into the Clinical Lab Computer system in a timely manner for both Adult and Pediatric testing areas. Performs all related responsibilities associated with Pulmonary Physiology clinic spirometry and other assigned testing to include operating and maintaining equipment in accordance with hospital and department safety policy and procedures. Performs oxygen titration testing per policy, reporting results appropriately and escorting patients to the appropriate area for oxygen setups. Performs body plethysmography and DLCO testing under direct supervision that meets ATS standards for quality testing. Participates in quality improvement processes on an ongoing basis, including acting as quality control subject as assigned. Education : High school diploma / GED and successful graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program or Emergency Medical Technician program Work Experience : Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) : Minimum of 1 year EMT experience Special Training, Certification or Licensure : BLS required.
The Pulmonary Physiology Medical Assistant supports maintaining equipment and supplies in both Adult and Pediatric testing areas. Key responsibilities include assisting with spirometry testing, oxygen titrations, and exhaled nitric oxide testing; ensuring accurate data entry, quality control, and billing processes; and maintaining compliance with safety and quality standards.
Key Duties :
- Conduct exhaled nitric oxide and oxygen titration tests, including reporting and data entrty.
- Maintain equipment, ensure quality control, and stock supplies.
- Support electronic medical record (EMR) documentation, billing, and result review.
- Collaborate across teams to ensure accurate, patient-focused care.
Position Summary
Provides support for technical personnel, performing basic pulmonary diagnostic testing, cleaning of equipment, ensuring quality control is being performed in the clinical areas and stocking laboratories. This position is responsible for assisting Pulmonary Physiology with EMR results, quality review, billing and supporting the Adult and Pediatric testing areas.
