A Typical Day for an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) with Hearthstone / The Cottages :

• Collaborate with the DON for overall nursing leadership within our Long-Term Care area
• Orient, train, and provide ongoing training and supervision to employees
• Assist in the evaluation of the health care services needed for each resident
• Serve as the liaison for staff shift transitions
• Plan, develop and oversee staffing schedules
• Schedule and conduct in-services meetings for staff
• Prepare and participate in surveys and inspections made by authorized government agencies
• Partner with the DON for nursing operation efficiencies
• Oversee infection control program and reporting
• Communicate with physicians, family members, etc. regarding resident status as appropriate
• Participate in quality improvement activities
• Audit skills of nursing staff

Preferred Education : Bachelors or better in Nursing.

Required Experience : Active RN in the state of Iowa is preferred. 3+ years of nursing experience within a long-term care setting.

Previous nursing leadership experience in a long-term care setting is highly preferred.

Required Licenses & Certifications : Licensed Practical Nurse. Registered Nurse.
