Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist renders highly professional and technical care to patients requiring specialized respiratory interventions. Under the general direction of the Respiratory Therapy Supervisor, you will collaborate with patients, families, peers, physicians, and other healthcare team members to deliver quality healthcare services. You will assess patient needs, contribute to planning and implementing care, and evaluate the effectiveness of respiratory regimens according to patient requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and analyze patient needs for respiratory care.
  • Implement and evaluate respiratory care regimens.
  • Obtain and analyze physiologic specimens; interpret data.
  • Apply and monitor mechanical ventilator support and airway management.
  • Conduct bronchopulmonary hygiene and administer pharmacological agents related to respiratory care.
  • Educate patients and families about disease processes and self-care.
  • Maintain current knowledge and competency in the practice of Respiratory Care.

    • Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (AHA / RQI specifically).
  • Previous acute care experience preferred.
  • Active New York State Licensure as a Respiratory Therapist.
