American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Acute unit night shift position requiring an active IL RN license, BLS, and PALS certifications.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in the Pediatric Acute unit within an acute care hospital settingUnit cares for medical / surgical pediatric patients, including diagnoses such as hyperbilirubinemia, neurological conditions, diabetes, failure to thrive, cystic fibrosis, COVID, and orthopedic casesShared unit with Pediatric Hematology / Oncology, expanding up to 32 beds based on censusNurse to patient ratio is 1 : 4Use of heated high flow and Bipap equipment within specific parametersCare for monitored patients, with a Pediatric monitor tech providing supportCharting performed in Epic EMR12-hour night shifts (1900-0730), required to work every other weekendHoliday coverage is expected unless approved during the interviewFloating may be required within children's hospital to other pediatric units or mom / baby, but not to ICUs unless experienced and not to chemo patientsCharge RN, pediatric crisis RN, and administrative supervisor available 24 / 7Patient care technicians (PCTs) on unit with 1 : 8-10 ratioHospitalist in-house until midnight with 24 / 7 resident coverageNo mandatory on-call or standby requirementsScrub tops should be pediatric appropriate, any color or pattern, with solid color pants; no revealing clothingTwo shift unit-specific orientation provided, extensions approved as necessaryFirst time travelers may be consideredClinicians living within 50 miles are considered local\n \n Requirements\n
