Position
Developmental Mathematics Instructor (Adjunct Pool). The role supports the college curriculum and programs through teaching, advising, professional development, and service. The incumbent will teach the maximum load of contact hours as indicated in the Faculty Guidelines each semester in the area of competency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach a full load of mathematics classes each semester.
- Collaborate with the Dean of Academic Services, Department Chair for Mathematics, and other faculty to ensure quality instruction and enrichment opportunities.
- Demonstrate skill and knowledge in teaching the discipline and improve instruction through innovative methodologies.
- Develop and use syllabi in accordance with college and departmental guidelines; submit copies to the department chair.
- Plan and use diverse teaching methods and materials to meet course objectives for students with varied backgrounds.
- Evaluate student progress and communicate promptly; maintain accurate records and submit related reports as requested.
- Review, evaluate, and recommend textbooks and learning materials.
- Teach at various times / locations to meet institutional needs; assist with maintenance of instructional laboratories when appropriate.
- Demonstrate competence and interest in using technology and be willing to explore new instructional methodologies.
- Provide academic advising and student support; participate in advising activities as needed by the College and Department.
- Participate in professional development and service activities; adhere to college policies and accreditation standards.
Qualifications
Education : Must hold a Bachelor's degree in a field of study related to mathematics (official transcripts required).Experience : Minimum of one (1) year of tutoring and / or teaching experience or five (5) to ten (10) years of related work experience.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities : Ability to teach day or evening classes at multiple sites in the city; proficiency with computer software including Blackboard or similar online systems; strong interpersonal, organizational, and planning skills; ability to work with diverse student populations; motivate students in a learning-centered environment; self-discipline and ability to manage others.This job description does not state or imply these are the only duties to be performed.
